People living in the Bassetlaw area are invited to a drop-in session on Monday 23 October 2017 to meet their local hospital Governors.
Proving popular in recent years, these events are a chance for local residents to tell Governors what they think of services at Bassetlaw Hospital and also for them to find out more about the role. The drop-in session is in main reception at Bassetlaw Hospital, 10.00am to 4.00pm.
The Bassetlaw public governors, who represent the interests of local residents on the Board of Governors of Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals, have varied duties which include:
• Talking to patients to make sure quality standards are met and maintained
• Taking part in inspections
• Representing the views and interests of local people
• Holding the Board of Directors to account through the Non-Executive Directors.
There are five governors elected by Trust members living in Bassetlaw, each serving for a three-year term with additional posts nominated by Bassetlaw District Council and another who represents the community and voluntary sectors in Bassetlaw and Doncaster.
Governors don’t deal with individual complaints – but they can signpost people to the right way to complain about services that are not up to scratch. But the elected members hope that their input, as lay people, means they spot problems before they arise and in that way can help make sure patients’ stay in hospital is a good experience.
