Covid-19 update (29 October)

In the past 24 hours, we have seen more rises in admissions with patients having tested positive for Covid-19.

Our Covid-19 weekly update: At the time of writing we are caring for 209 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 – throughout the past few days we have an average admission of around 20 such individuals each day. The breakdown of this is 164 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, 22 at Bassetlaw Hospital and 23 at Montagu Hospital.

Of these patients, 10 require critical care, with six on mechanical ventilation, 20 non-invasive ventilation and five oxygen. We wish these patients the very best.
Colleagues continue to do a fantastic job, and we are safely discharging patients each day, with a high of 18 yesterday, meaning that while we are seeing further admissions, we are managing our position well.

On a sadder note, in the past 24 hours, we have reported that three patients have passed away with Covid-19 having played a significant factor in the cause of death. We share our most heartfelt condolences with those affected.

The past few days have been extremely challenging, however Team DBTH have pulled together and continue to work tirelessly. Please share your support for them in the comments below – they are our superheroes.

This disease is still very much out there as the above numbers outline, so please adhere to the restrictions where you live, and remember hands, face and space. If we all do this now, we will flatten the curve, save lives and return to normality sooner rather than later.

Thank you, continue to protect the vulnerable amongst us and help us flatten the curve – and remember, sunshine follows thunder – we will get through this together as a community.

Our next weekly update will be available at 6pm on Thursday 5 November.
