An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join our Stores and Distribution Team within our procurement department at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.

We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic, would like to be involved in the logistics side of the Hospital, who will be willing and work towards and achieve a NVQ level 2 in warehousing.

As an apprentice you will be supported with the following:

  • Attendance at college/study sessions as required
  • Work with an assessor/mentor to develop a work based portfolio
  • Undertaking work based assessments
  • Completing assignments/projects relating to their apprenticeship framework
  • Presenting evidence portfolios for assessment within specific time frameworks

Main duties of the job

  • To be able to communicate across all levels including engaging with clinical staff within the Trust. Be able to communicate with outside organisations or suppliers
  • Problem solving.
  • Must be able to manoeuvre heavy metal roll cages ensuring that patients, staff and you are not compromised.
  • Must have experience with basic computer skills and be able to adapt and input accurately products onto our finance systems

The Procurement Department consists of the E-Procurement Team, Category Management Teams Corporate and Clinical, Inventory Management Team and we a Stores and Distribution Team, our services cover all the Trust sites, we work closely with all our Customers and are keen to develop relationships and work toward continuing improvement.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Receive goods into the stores, receipt and deliver to wards including the supply chain roll cages.
  • Receive returned goods and ensure safe return to suppliers.
  • Receives and checks stock list for accuracy and actions discrepancies or returns
  • Flexibility to work across all Trust sites as and when required.
  • Contribute to the development and performance of the Inventory Team by personally participating in training and development activities and by suggesting areas of change within the department.
  • To maintain departmental level of service the post holder will be expected to cover all areas when absences occur.

Eligibility/Qualifications/Training

Essential criteria
  • Hold a professional procurement qualification (such as Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply) or be willing to work towards.
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
  • 5 GCSE’s or equivalent including Maths and English
Desirable criteria
  • Project Management
  • Negotiation Training
  • Report writing
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification or progress to relevant professional qualification, such as the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply
  • Contract writing

Experience

Essential criteria
  • The preferred candidate will have experience of working within a Procurement Department in a category position.
  • Demonstrable experience within the Corporate/Clinical Categories
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence to operate at all levels
  • Conversant with relevant Information management and technology
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyse and interpret data
  • Show a good level of comprehension and ability to interpret reports and other market information.
  • Working Knowledge of Public Procurement rules (UK Directives)
  • Working knowledge of corporate governance arrangements and public procurement legislation
  • Proven high level of communication skills using a range of methods including written, verbal and presentations.
  • Ability to receive complex data which require analysis and interpret for Care Groups and colleagues.
  • Experience of carrying out procurements from conception to evaluation and implementation
Desirable criteria
  • Experience in advanced negotiation.
  • Experience in policy development and implementation.
  • Ability to write contracts.
