We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, who is interested in a customer service role within the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Division of Medicine  based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

Apprenticeship Programme Requirements:

  • You are aged 16+
  • Have lived within the EU/EEA for 3 or more years
  • You must not be in any form of formal government funded education
  • GCSE grades A-C (9 – 4) in English and Maths or equivalent

As an employee we will help to support you in obtaining an approved apprenticeship standard. We will be committed to ensuring that a structured plan is in place to support and enable you to take 20% of your working hours away from your general duties per week in order to complete the programme.

The apprenticeship scheme is run in partnership with Doncaster College, delivered on site at DBTH to ensure that you are supported through a high quality training programme; you will be required to undertake the Business and Admin Apprenticeship Level 3, this would include:

National Apprentice Rate Applies (This may change to the National Living Wage or National Minimum wage in month 13 dependent on age)

Main duties of the job

The individual will work as part of the administration team within the Doncaster & Bassetlaw Diabetic Eye Screening Department providing administration and clerical support as required.

The Apprentice will:

  • Attend college/study sessions as required
  • Work with an assessor/mentor to develop a work-based portfolio
  • Undertake work-based assessments
  • Complete assignments/projects relating to their apprenticeship framework
  • Present evidence portfolios for assessment within specific time frameworks
  • Develop and expand knowledge and skills as required in line with trust / service/ professional development
  • Participate in Performance Development Appraisal

This role will work as part of the team to deliver accurate, timely and customer focused services to employees of the Trust and other clients. Additionally the role will provide administrative support to the various functions.

There is an expectation that Apprentice will work across teams within the department, to ensure they are able to attain the required level of units to achieve the intermediate Customer Service Practitioner Apprenticeship (level 2)

As an apprentice you will be supported with the following:

  • Attendance at college/study sessions as required
  • Work with an assessor/mentor to develop a work-based portfolio
  • Undertaking work-based assessments
  • Completing assignments/projects relating to their apprenticeship framework
  • Presenting evidence portfolios for assessment within specific time frameworks

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the Trust’s agreed behaviours and values within the team.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and other departments.
  • Ensure that processes are carried out in accordance with documented procedures, protocols and schedules and deadlines.
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support across a range of duties.
  • Safe use of office equipment e.g. photocopier, scanner, fax machine.
  • Book new and follow up appointments.
  • Resolve routine queries and enquiries from employees and managers.
  • Deal with queries from GPs and patients.
  • Undertake data input on a range of IT systems.
  • Assist colleagues in preparations for meetings and training.
  • Attend and participate to team meetings.
  • Answer telephone enquiries, recording accurate messages accordingly.
  • Help maintain effective and efficient office systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • To provide appropriate reception duties for the department.
  • Throughout the training period the post holder will be expected to complete all educational and training as required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable general/clerical duties commensurate with this role.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Experience using computer software packages
  • Understanding of GDPR and Confidentiality issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced keyboard skills
  • Have had some work experience; paid, unpaid, voluntary, school work experience placement
