The Community Engagement Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the success of the NHS Screening Programmes. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Community Engagement Assistant with lots of ideas of how to engage with our target audiences in the community.

The post holder will work with the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer to assist in the delivery of sustained engagement and communications campaigns that raise awareness amongst the target audiences and encourage action and participation in the screening programmes (breast, cervical, diabetic eye and abdominal aortic aneurysm), much of which will be achieved through community engagement and events.

As the post-holder, you will be extremely confident in talking to and engaging with people in a variety of environments including public events, workshops and meetings.

The post will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary however it will require a significant amount of travel in order to attend events for the South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw screening teams – Barnsley, Bassetlaw (Worksop and Retford in north Nottinghamshire), Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.

The post will also require flexibility to work weekends and evenings – responding to events and community activity appropriately.
