The Communications and Engagement team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Engagement Assistant to raise awareness across South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw of NHS screening programmes, which include: Cervical Screening, Breast Screening, Diabetic Eye Screening and Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA).

The post holder will work with the Senior Communications and Engagement Officer and Screening Administrator to assist in the delivery of sustained engagement and communications campaigns that raise awareness amongst target audiences and encourage participation in the screening programmes, much of which will be achieved through community engagement and events.  They will also work closely with the South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Programme Managers from the four screening programmes.

The post holder will be responsible for engaging the community, making connections and sharing information across the region to increase our uptake of screening. They will be extremely confident in talking to and engaging with people in a variety of environments including public events, workshops and meetings with a pro-active approach and the ability to identify external opportunities and coordinate events.  They will also keep up to date with news and guidance on the four programmes.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills and an understanding of various communication methods including a variety of social media platforms.  The post will be based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary however it will require a significant amount of travel to attend events in Barnsley, Bassetlaw (Worksop and Retford in north Nottinghamshire), Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.  The post will also require some flexibility to work weekends and evenings.
