This an exciting time for Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH).

Employing over 6,500 people across three sites and a number of community services, the Trust is one of only five teaching hospitals in the Yorkshire and Humber region, and a key player within the developing South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw Integrated Care System (ICS).

With the completion of a new five year strategy and refreshed Board of Directors and Council of Governors, it is our ambition, as an organisation, to become the safest Trust in England, ‘Outstanding’ in all we do.

To aid us in this journey, we are looking for an exceptional Trust Board Secretary to ensure we remain a well-led organisation, offering crucial and expert insight to Team DBTH.

We are looking for someone who is flexible, measured and forward-thinking, with an eye for detail and a manner which engenders confidence amongst directors and governors, as well as a wide-variety of NHS staff.

As the successful candidate, you will be primarily responsible for ensuring strong corporate governance and will provide excellent support to our Board of Directors, Council of Governors and Executive Team.

You will manage a small team of staff, but be action-orientated and seen very much as a ‘doer’. Most importantly, you will have experience of working within a governance environment in a complex organisation, with an ability able to work accurately and at a fast pace.

In the role, you will work closely with the Chairman, Chief Executive, Board of Directors and Council of Governors, and will play a key role ensuring the Trust complies with the relevant legal, constitutional and regulatory requirements associated with Foundation Trust status.

Crucially, you will make a significant contribution to the overall effectiveness of the Board of Directors and Council of Governors, providing clear advice and support in relation to a range of legislative and governance issues.

The role provides an opportunity to work with a high calibre and forward-thinking Chair and Chief Executive and be involved in the business of the Trust’s Executive Team.
