This advert offers full time positions (37.5 hours per week) for Apprentice Health Care Assistants, across various wards at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital

It is a 14 month intermediate apprenticeship programme and successful candidates will be required to attend College 2 days per month.

Our Apprentice Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) provide some of the most personal and fundamental support to our patients so if you are kind, compassionate and you always act in the best interests of others, then we want to hear from you.

You will work alongside nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals to provide a positive experience to our patients and their relatives at times of need. You will support patients in various ways such as:

  • washing and dressing
  • toileting
  • bed making
  • serving patients meals/assisting with feeding
  • helping people to mobilise
  • assisting with patients’ overall comfort
  • monitoring patients’ conditions by taking temperatures, pulse, respirations and weight– national early warning scores (NEWS)
  • providing encouragement to lifestyle and behaviour changes
  • developing skills associated with being a new parent

The care that you will provide is paramount to our ability to provide high quality and safe services which run 24 hours 7 days a week. You will be required to work flexibly as your working rota will include nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

You will be an excellent communicator, able to prioritise taking into consideration the variety of patients’ needs and also be able to follow instructions.

We have full time vacancies for Apprentice Health Care Assistants working in different areas such within medicine and surgery. All Apprentice Healthcare Assistants will complete an induction programme and the Care Certificate on commencement of post. Apprentice Healthcare Assistants  will then go on to complete a 14 month apprenticeship programme, and upon successful completion and satisfactory reference from your line manager, you will commence in post as a band 2 Trained Healthcare Assistant with DBTH.
