The winners will be announced on Thursday 19 September 2019!

This award is sponsored by the University of Sheffield, and the shortlist is:

Emma Cribb, Paediatric Dietitian

Emma is a paediatric dietitian with a keen interest in clinical studies. Over the past three years Emma has participated in a study linked to her clinical interest, Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA) which is a type of milk allergy where a baby’s immune system responds to the proteins found in cows’ milk, causing the baby to have allergic symptoms.

In 2018 Emma completed her National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) internship with a study into CMPA Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy: Exploring current practice and knowledge among primary healthcare professionals in Doncaster and Bassetlaw. Emma is now preparing her application for the NIHR Pre-Doctoral Fellowship.

Alex Smith, Chief Cardiac Physiologist

Alex Smith is an inspirational training lead who works tirelessly, supporting the students and junior members of staff in the Cardio-Respiratory Department. She has implemented comprehensive training packages at a local level; mentored apprentices, students from University and Colleges and supported many Specialist Registrar’s in becoming proficient in targeted echocardiography, in order to improve patient safety out of hours.

Her passion and attitude to others’ personal and professional development within the team is inspiring to say the least and there have been visible shifts in attitudes within the department since she made the role her own.
