Tour de Yorkshire: Potential Disruptions

The Tour de Yorkshire will be returning to Doncaster on Thursday 2 May.

As in previous years, there will be several road closures and restrictions because of this. Specifically, the Town Centre will be closed for the whole day, with events focused around the Market Place.

Although this may cause inevitable delays, please rest assured that hospital access itself should be unaffected. Click here for a detailed schedule or more information.

Timings

  • Throughout the morning, pre-race events will be occurring in the Town Market Place.
  • The race will depart the Market Place at 1:05pm, with the cyclists taking a circuit of the town centre before heading along the A19 toward Bentley, Askern and Campsall. After this, they will then cross the border to North Yorkshire towards Selby.
  • The race is expected to reach Toll Bar at 1:21pm and exit the Borough at 1:31pm.
  • There will be road closures in the Town centre for the full day. There will also be rolling road closures on the rest of the route.

Increased Public Presence

Visitors should be prepared for an increased public presence in Doncaster during the event. In particular, the Market Place will be busy as celebratory events are planned throughout the morning (prior to the race start).

With that said, please give yourself plenty of time before setting off to reach our sites.
