Screening is a way of identifying apparently healthy people who may have an increased risk of a particular condition with the aim of providing treatment to prevent the disease or illness arising from it.
The service also looks at ways to increase awareness among hard to reach groups including homeless people, gypsy and traveller groups, those in prison, and those with communication difficulties. Public Health England vision is that “all screening services can be accessed by all communities and that everyone, regardless of their social and personal circumstance, has an opportunity to make an informed personal choice about screening.”
