An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Digital Transformation Directorate for a Customer Care Apprentice to work alongside the IT Service Desk team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The training provider is Doncaster College; the successful candidate will be required to complete assignments as part of a college course, meeting deadlines set by the college for submission.

Main duties of the job

Customer Care Apprentice – Age 16+

Level 3 Business & Admin Apprenticeship – 21 months

37.5 Hours Per Week

The role will include a mixture of administration duties working with the IT Service Desk Team. You will assist with record keeping, communicate with people on the telephone and in person, answer calls on the IT Service Desk, reset users’ passwords, Log calls onto the Sitedesk System, attend meetings and take minutes and other general admin duties.  You must have good knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel and excellent communication skills.

Full training for the role will be part of your induction to the service along with the Level 3 Business & Admin apprenticeship and will include study time.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The individual will work as part of the administration team within a department providing administration and clerical support as required.

The Apprentice will:

  • Attend college/study sessions as required
  • Work with an assessor/mentor to develop a work based portfolio
  • Undertake work based assessments
  • Complete assignments/projects relating to their apprenticeship framework
  • Present evidence portfolios for assessment within specific time frameworks
  • Develop and expand knowledge and skills as required in line with the Trust, the department and professional development
  • Participate in Performance Development Appraisal

This role will work as part of the team to deliver accurate, timely and customer focused services to employees of the Trust and other clients. Additionally the roles will provide administrative support to the various functions.

There is an expectation that Apprentices will work across teams within the department, to ensure they are able to attain the required level of units to achieve the Business and Administration Apprenticeship (level 3).

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate the Trust’s agreed behaviours and values within the team
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and other departments
  • Ensure that processes are carried out in accordance with documented procedures, protocols and schedules and deadlines
  • Provide general clerical and administrative support across a range of duties
  • Safe use of office equipment e.g. Printer, photocopier, scanner
  • Resolve routine queries and enquiries from employees and managers
  • Undertake data input on a range of IT systems
  • Reset passwords
  • Deploy software
  • Log calls onto the Help desk System
  • Answer telephone enquiries, recording accurate messages accordingly
  • Help maintain effective and efficient office systems
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work
  • Attend meetings and take minutes.
  • To provide appropriate reception duties for the department
  • Throughout the training period the post holder will be expected to complete all educational and training modules as required
  • Undertake any other reasonable general/clerical duties commensurate with this role

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Maths & English GCSE – A* – D or 9 – 4 or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Excellent Keyboard Skills
  • Experience using computer software packages
  • Have had some work experience; paid, unpaid, voluntary, school work experience placement
  • Understanding of GDPR and Confidentiality issues.
Desirable criteria
  • Advanced keyboard skills
