A team of drivers and office workers have been recognised for the service they provide to patients, visitors and staff at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH).

The Transport Team, based at Bassetlaw Hospital, were named the Trust’s STAR team of the month after receiving a nomination from a fellow member of staff for their dedication, service and friendly manner.

The team operate the shuttle bus, which has been running, free of charge, between the Doncaster and Worksop hospitals for over ten years. The service offers patients and staff a comfortable way of travelling, freeing up hospital car parking and ensuring a stress-free journey for patients and visitors who may be feeling anxious about their appointment.

Tony Roscoe, shuttle driver, said: “I love my job, every day is different and I am constantly meeting new people.  I have my regular ‘customers’ and have built up a rapport with many of them.  It means a lot to be recognised by our colleagues for the service we provide.”

The DBTH STAR award is Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals’ Staff Awards and Recognition Scheme. The awards are open to all employees and any member of staff can nominate a colleague or nominate themselves.

Kirsty Edmondson Jones, Director of Estates and Facilities, said: “Congratulations to the team on achieving this accolade. The team do a fantastic job providing a service to patients, staff and visitors, making it easier for our people to get to their hospital appointments”
