Heavy rain in Doncaster

As you may be aware we are expecting heavy rain in the area at the beginning of this week.

An update from Doncaster Council:

This, combined with melting snow, means that our rivers are running high and we are expecting surface water issues from early Tuesday morning into Wednesday.

Our teams have been working 24/7 over the weekend to minimise any impacts and we have been out since last night delivering sandbags to properties in those areas that might be affected. We are continuing with this and we have plans in place based on areas which have flooded before so please don’t call us for sandbags.
Flood Alerts are currently in place for the Lower Don, River Idle and River Went.

This covers the following areas: Bawtry, Bentley, Conisborough, Clay Lane, Fishlake, Intake, Mexborough, Scawthorpe, Tickhill and Wadworth.

Please stay alert and check flood warnings regularly @EnvAgencyYNE and check your area here: https://flood-warning-information.service.gov.uk/warnings?location=South%20Yorkshire&fbclid=IwAR3Aq9nLlWAs62cy_xS0JrhWBGEgJ2v7NZGOsQPkfPWkXT6WaDukKqbxGgk
.
If you are in one of the affected areas, you should start preparing your property for flooding, including moving furniture and valuables upstairs. You can find out more here about how to prepare here: https://www.doncaster.gov.uk/services/emergencies/flood-advice?fbclid=IwAR3iIb8k8EXwDIo-RtVKUMlZWo2vOPibgt81csYsZ-MYNMl0gTUpvUCd8lQ

We will keep you updated on the situation.
