One of our colleagues, Becki, volunteers with an animal charity based in Kolkata, India. The charity is called Animal People Alliance which is a USA NGO, co-founded by Belinda Carlisle, an 80s pop icon, previously of the all-girl punk rock group The Go-Go’s.
They train and employ vulnerable people at risk of falling below the poverty line, paying them a living wage that help them to improve their standard of living. The charity sells jewellery made by stateless women in Thailand as one of the ways to fundraise for APA, with 100% going directly to the South Asia projects.
With Becki’s help, DBTH Charity is working in partnership with APA and she will be selling their jewellery and all proceeds will be split 50/50 between the two charities. The money raised for our hospitals will go towards our Rainbow Garden appeal – which will see us create two beautiful spaces in memory to those we have lost to Covid-19.
