Tour de Yorkshire traffic disruptions

The Tour De Yorkshire is back and will be cycling into Doncaster on 3 May and Mexborough 4 May. As such, there may be traffic disruption from 2 May.

Doncaster 2 and 3 May

From 6pm on 2 May, the road will be closed at the racecourse roundabout, up Bennetthorpe to South Parade, as preparations are made for the race arrival.

The race finishes on South Parade, with the women’s race finishing at 12.15pm and the men’s at 6.10pm. The clean-up afterwards will finish at approximately 1am on 4 May.

Mexborough 4 May

The race will pass Montagu Hospital on Adwick Road on three separate occasions:

• The Women’s race will pass around 9.50am
• The advertisement caravan, which is a thirty vehicle parade, will pass around 2.20pm
• The men’s race will pass the hospital around 3.40pm.

This means there will be three periods of disruption for patients, visitors, staff and deliveries to the hospital, with a 20 to 30 minute rolling road block is in place. Please note, there will be no parking permitted on Adwick Road all day.

DBTH has been involved in local planning meetings with Doncaster Council, South Yorkshire Police and other partners. The Trust has also undertaken a business resilience planning programme, both at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Montagu Hospital, in order to mitigate any impact and put added resilience measures in place.

Staff on duty on the 3 and 4 May 2018 are asked to make alternative travel arrangements if necessary, giving themselves plenty of time when setting off for work. Please note, due to potential disruptions to the shuttle bus services, both between sites and from the Park and Ride, some patients may be delayed when attending their appointments.
