DBTH shortlisted for two awards at the 2025 South Yorkshire Apprentice Awards

Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) has once again been recognised for its commitment to apprenticeships, with two finalists shortlisted for the 2025 South Yorkshire Apprentice Awards. This year’s ceremony will take place on Thursday 8 May, at Bramall Lane, the home of Sheffield United.

Organised by National World, the South Yorkshire Apprentice Awards celebrate the achievements of apprentices and apprenticeship programmes across the region.

DBTH has been shortlisted for the Professional Services Apprentice of the Year Award, with Connor Wilson-Bow representing the Trust, and the Large Employer of the Year award, highlighting the work of the DBTH apprenticeship scheme.

DBTH is one of South Yorkshire’s largest employers, with a workforce of over 7,300 people, many of whom are apprentices from within the local communities.

Apprenticeships are a vital part of the Trust’s strategy to build a future-ready and diverse workforce that reflects the populations it serves.

Currently, apprenticeships span more than 40 of the 250 career pathways available within the NHS, ranging from clinical roles like Student Nurse Associates to non-clinical areas such as Business Administration and Pharmacy.

Professor Sam Debbage, Director of Education and Research at DBTH, commented:  “We’re incredibly proud to have one of our colleagues and our apprenticeship programme recognised at this year’s awards. At DBTH, we are dedicated to providing meaningful, supportive pathways into healthcare careers.

“These nominations reflect the hard work and commitment of both our learners and the teams who support them. We wish everyone the very best of luck and look forward to celebrating on the night.”

With 14 categories in total, the South Yorkshire Apprentice Awards honour excellence across all sectors. Winners will be announced on 8 May.
