Welcome to our Partner Brief for June 2024.
It’s been a busy few weeks for the Trust, with lots happening. Key updates include the installation of the Da Vinci Surgical XI robot, advancing the Community Diagnostic Centre at Montagu Hospital, and a new partnership with Annalise.ai to enhance diagnostic services, in addition to a special visit from Sir Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour Party.
Additionally, we have taken the time to reflect, and evaluate, on the first year of our People Strategy, aimed at improving staff experiences and organisational culture, which I hope you will find informative.
Finally, within this update we have put in a request for help in sharing a call for people to come forward as stem cell donors. Please share this with your communication’s colleagues if appropriate.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration.

DBTH Annual Members Meeting 2024
Our next Annual Members Meeting will take place today, Thursday 26 September and will be streamed at 6pm.
Each year we invite our members and partners to the meeting, giving an update on the Trust’s performance and progress within the year. During the meeting we will cover:
- Our overall operational activity
- Our highlights and challenges throughout the year
- Our financial performance
- An update on local, regional and national developments in health and social care

Stem cell donation
We are asking our partners to share the following within their internal and external newsletters, as well as relevant communications platforms, to help us spread this important message far and wide.
Meet Becky, 27, Sonographer at Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Becky has been battling Hodgkin’s Lymphoma for almost two years. Unfortunately, her treatments, including a stem cell transplant using her own cells, have been unsuccessful.
Becky now urgently needs a second stem cell transplant from a donor. The chances of finding a match are just one in a million. But with over 440,000 people in Doncaster and Bassetlaw and 2.5 million in South Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, together we can reduce those odds.
Please, if you can, sign up here: https://www.dkms.org.uk/register-now. You can withdraw from the register at any time.
Your participation is crucial. By joining the register to become a stem cell donor and taking a simple swab test, you could potentially save Becky’s life or someone else’s.
Your actions could save a life. Let’s unite and make a difference.
Please share this post with friends, family, and far and wide.

People Strategy – First-year reflections
Our DBTH People Strategy, published in June 2023, sets out how we aim to develop as an organisation, become an employer of choice and improve working lives and experiences of all our people by embedding an inclusive culture.
We set out to achieve this through a number of key priorities with defined success measures including leadership and team development, inclusion, wellbeing, recognition, and supporting our individuals to feel confident in speaking up, amongst other activities.
As we move into the second year of this five-year People Strategy, it is timely to reflect on our achievements and the actions taken so far.
This summary outlines the progress made under the four pillars of our strategy: ‘Looking after our people’, ‘Belonging in #TeamDBTH’, ‘Growing for the future’, and ‘New ways of working and delivering care’.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony for state-of-the-art robotic surgeon “Robi” at Doncaster Royal Infirmary
The purchase of this ‘cutting-edge’ technology mark a significant milestone in the hospital’s commitment to enhancing surgical care for its patients, and particularly those living with colorectal cancer.
In a special ribbon-cutting ceremony held last week, the star of the event was none other than Robi itself, demonstrating its precision by cutting the ceremonial ribbon. The event was attended by members of the project team who have worked hard to bring the device to the hospital, Richard Parker and surgeons Miss Antonia Durham-Hall and Miss Victoria Proctor.
Milestone reached in the devleopment Community Diagnostic Centre Construction at Montagu Hospital
Last month, senior colleagues from at the Trust joined construction specialists, IHP Vinci to celebrate a significant step forward in the development of the Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) at Montagu Hospital in Mexborough.
The CDC project is advancing rapidly, with the main steel framed structure and roofing now completed, and on schedule. This milestone signifies a key step in establishing a permanent home for the hospital’s medical imaging department within a newly constructed facility at the rear of the hospital site.
The new facility, which will include dedicated MRI and CT scanning rooms, two ultrasound suites, changing rooms for patient use, and a waiting area, marks the final phase of the CDC’s expansion, which began in 2022 with the placement of mobile scanners on the site.

Trust partners with Annalise.ai to enhance diagnostic services
Last month the Trust entered a strategic partnership with Annalise.ai, a leading provider of innovative AI-driven healthcare solutions, to improve patient care.
This collaboration focuses on improving the efficiency of radiology services via the deployment of AI-enabled decision support solutions for chest X-ray and non-contrast CT brain scans, ultimately aiming to enhance patient care and outcomes. The initiative represents a significant advancement in radiology services within the region.
Annalise.ai offers comprehensive AI solutions capable of detecting up to 124 findings on chest radiographs and up to 130 findings on non-contrast head CT scans.
