Travel cost support
If you’re on a low income or certain benefits, you may be able to claim back costs for public transport, mileage, or an approved escort. More about the Healthcare Travel Cost Scheme can be found here.
Car parking concessions
Free parking is available to people with one of the following circumstances:
Blue Badge Holders
Disabled patients and visitors receive free parking for the duration of their attendance at, or visit to, the hospital, who are a Blue Badge holder. Disabled employees receive free parking while at the hospital for purposes relating to their employment.
Outpatient appointments
Free parking will be provided to all out-patients who attend for an appointment at least three times within a month and for an overall period of at least three months. A ‘month’ is defined as a period of 30 days.
Visitors supporting patients in end-of-life care
Free parking will be provided to frequent visitors of patients who are receiving end of life care.
Those attending as a carer for a patient during a hospital admission
Free parking is available for those who are attending to provide carer for a patient during their hospital admission.
Parents or guardians of sick children staying overnight
Parents or guardians of a child or young person, under 18 years of age, who is admitted as an inpatient at hospital receive free parking between the hours of 7.30am and 8pm, alongside the standard free overnight parking, while visiting the child. This would apply to a maximum of two vehicles.
