Doncaster Concert Band to host special performance at hospital this Sunday

The Doncaster based brass band will perform outside a Doncaster Royal Infirmary on Sunday 10 December at 2pm, spreading a little bit of festive joy to patients, visitors and colleagues alike.

The Doncaster Concert Band will perform a medley of Christmas music within the main car park of Doncaster Royal Infirmary within ear shot of the hospital’s ward blocks this Sunday.

Something of an annual tradition at the Trust, the band also rehearsed in one of the hospital’s car parks during the pandemic and the lockdown period as it provided an open-outdoor space that allowed for all the social distancing restrictions to be observed at the time.

The performance was arranged by Sara Elliott, Head of Radiography and Committee Member for the band, in an effort to boost morale amongst the staff and patients at the hospital.

Sara said: “This concert is just another way to share our thanks, and spread a little bit of season’s cheer with patients and staff.”

Suzy Brain England OBE, Chair of the Board at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, said: “Spending time in hospital over Christmas means individuals can miss out on the festivities on the run up to the big day. Thank you to the concert band for once again sharing their joyous music and talents with our patients and staff.”
