The Chief Nursing and Chief Midwifery Officers’ Award celebrates the enduring compassion and recognises the vital contribution of healthcare supper workers in England and their exceptional support of nursing and midwifery practice.
With over 30 years of service in the NHS, and nearly a decade of experience with in DBTH’s Children’s Outpatients Department, Pauline McNeil has been recognised for her exceptional dedicated to compassionate patient care and mentoring her colleagues to support them in their professional development.
Pauline’s particular passion for teaching phlebotomy (blood taking) skills to new colleagues has established her as a guiding presence within her team, ensuring they are confident in their abilities and well-prepared for any challenges they may face. Pauline’s department commended her dedication to nurturing the next generation of healthcare support workers, as well as staff nurses and doctors, going out of her way to impart knowledge and expertise, and ensuring everyone feels supported in their day-to-day duties.
Beyond mentoring new starters, Pauline serves as a reliable pillar of strength and knowledge for the entire team, and is always ready to lend a helping hand.
Most recently, Pauline supported a recruitment roadshow, sharing invaluable insights to prepare new recruits for their roles in the NHS through passionate and honest feedback on first hand experiences in her role.

In November, on Healthcare Support Workers Day, Pauline was presented with her award at a special celebratory event surrounded by her Children’s Outpatients colleagues.
