Sarah Ritzmann awarded Fellowship of the British Society of Echocardiography

Sarah Ritzmann, Lead Clinical Scientist in Cardiology at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), has been awarded a prestigious Fellowship of the British Society of Echocardiography (BSE).

The accolade, presented at the Society’s annual conference which took place 11 and 12 October, recognises Sarah’s outstanding contributions to echocardiography, specifically her leadership as Chair of the Departmental Accreditation and Clinical Standards Committee.

Echocardiography is a vital tool used in the diagnosis and monitoring of heart conditions. It uses sound waves to create detailed images of the heart, helping clinicians assess its function, structure, and blood flow in real-time.

As a Lead Clinical Scientist in Cardiology, Sarah plays a crucial role in ensuring high standards of diagnostic care, overseeing complex heart imaging procedures, and leading a team of clinical professionals to deliver the best patient outcomes.

Howard Briggs, Principal Clinical Physiologist at DBTH, expressed his admiration for Sarah’s achievements: “Sarah’s expertise and dedication are second to none. Her work continues to raise the bar for both our Trust and the wider field of echocardiography, and we are immensely proud of her well-deserved recognition.

“The whole Cardio-Respiratory team is thrilled for her, and this fellowship truly highlights her standing within the profession.”
