The Minor Injuries Unit at Montagu Hospital offers expert care for a range of non-life-threatening injuries and is open seven days a week for walk-in patients.

  • At Montagu Hospital: 7 Days a Week, 9am till 9pm (last admission at 8pm) 09:00 AM 09:00 PM
  • At Bassetlaw Hospital: 24 hours, seven days a week 12:00 AM 12:00 AM
  • At Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI): 24 hours, seven days a week 12:00 AM 12:00 AM

Many people go to an Emergency Department, when they could be treated much more quickly within the Minor Injuries Unit.

Mexborough Minor Injuries Unit

The Minor Injuries Unit at Montagu Hospital is run by a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Nurse Practitioners who provide care for less serious injuries, such as sprains, cuts, grazes, minor burns, bites and stings.

Located on Adwick Road, Mexborough S64 0AZ, the unit can be accessed via the hospital’s main entrance (the circular building). 

Open 9am to 9pm every day except Christmas Day (25 December), the last admission is at 8pm each day.

For patients aged one year old and over only. Patients with head injuries over 65 years cannot be seen at Montagu Minor Injuries Unit under NICE Guidelines.

Montagu Hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit can treat:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Simple fractures
  • Wound infections
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Sunburn
  • Cuts
  • Grazes
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Foreign bodies in eyes and ears
  • Simple head wounds
  • Insect and animal bites.

The unit can also arrange X-Rays for possible broken bones and treat minor eye and ear injuries.

Montagu Hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit cannot treat:

  • Chest pain
  • Rashes or skin complaints
  • Breathing difficulties
  • Major injuries
  • Problems usually dealt with by a GP
  • Stomach pains
  • Gynaecological problems
  • Pregnancy problems
  • Overdoses
  • Alcohol related problems
  • Mental health problems
  • Conditions likely to require hospital admission

Minor Injuries Units at Doncaster Royal Infirmary (DRI) and Bassetlaw Hospital

The Minor Injuries Units are run by a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Nurse Practitioners who provide care for less serious injuries, such as sprains, cuts, grazes, minor burns, bites and stings.

Emergency Nurse Practitioners work between 9am till 9pm, with last admissions at 8pm.

Minor Injuries Units at DRI and Bassetlaw Hospital are accessed via the emergency departments, and patients will be directed accordingly.
