Montagu Minor Injuries Unit

The Minor Injuries Unit at Montagu Hospital offers expert care for a range of non-life-threatening injuries and is open seven days a week for walk-in patients.

  • Please note, the last admission is at 8pm each day. The service is closed Christmas Day (25 December).

The Minor Injuries Unit at Montagu Hospital is run by a dedicated and highly skilled Emergency Nurse Practitioners who provide care for less serious injuries, such as sprains, cuts, grazes, minor burns, bites and stings.

The unit can be accessed from Adwick Road, Mexborough S64 0AZ, and via the hospital’s main entrance (the circular building). 

Many people go to an Emergency Department, when they could be treated much more quickly within the Minor Injuries Unit. The unit can also arrange X-Rays for possible broken bones and treat minor eye and ear injuries.

Montagu Hospital’s Minor Injuries Unit can treat:

  • Sprains and strains
  • Simple fractures
  • Wound infections
  • Minor burns and scalds
  • Sunburn
  • Cuts
  • Grazes
  • Minor eye injuries
  • Foreign bodies in eyes and ears
  • Simple head wounds
  • Insect and animal bites.

Please note: Patients with head injuries over 65 years cannot be seen at Montagu Minor Injuries unit under N.I.C.E Guidelines.
