The assessment will comprise of questions about your general health, any allergies to medications or foods that you may have. The answers to these questions will help to create a picture of your fitness for surgery and anaesthetic, allow the Pre Assessment Nurse request the relevant tests that are required for your surgery and your medical condition.
We can also make referrals into the Consultant Anaesthetic clinic should this be required. This enables you and your relatives to discuss the planned anaesthetic prior to admission. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about your surgery and recovery times, which in turn will assist you and your family to make any plans required for your care after your operation.
