We understand that a hospital stay can often be a challenging experience. It’s not just a time of physical healing but can also stir a range of emotional and spiritual needs.
Our Chaplains are here to support you through this journey.
Who are our Chaplains?
Our team of trained chaplains come from a variety of faith backgrounds and bring with them compassion, understanding, and a commitment to providing spiritual care.
Chaplains offer compassionate, respectful, and confidential support to everyone. They listen without judgement and respect each person’s individual beliefs, values, and experiences.
The chaplaincy team is also supported by trained volunteers. We can contact faith leaders from many different faith and belief communities if you would like specific religious support.
They are dedicated to offering support to patients, families, and staff, regardless of individual beliefs or traditions.
What do our Chaplains offer?
Pastoral and emotional support: Being in hospital can bring many thoughts and emotions. Chaplains offer a calm and supportive presence, and time to listen. Sometimes, simply having someone to talk to can make a meaningful difference.
Our chaplains offer a safe, welcoming space for patients, families, and staff to share their thoughts and feelings, providing steady support during uncertainty or difficult decisions.
They walk alongside you through the emotions that often accompany hospital experiences, helping you cope and find calm. They are inclusive, empathetic, and non‑judgemental, respecting each person’s unique journey.
Spiritual Care: Whether you’re seeking comfort, exploring what gives your life meaning, or wrestling with bigger questions, our chaplains are here to listen and talk with you about what truly matters.
In challenging moments, they offer a calm, supportive presence as you navigate questions of purpose, grief, anxiety, or trauma, creating a compassionate space for reflection and healing.
They also ensure your cultural values and beliefs are respected, and can help you honour important celebrations or moments of remembrance during your time in hospital.
Religious Care: If you wish, we can lead or facilitate prayer for you and your loved ones, and we can arrange sacramental services, such as Communion or Anointing of the Sick, according to your faith tradition.
Chaplains are here to sit with you when you need support, offering time, understanding, and a respectful space for your feelings, beliefs, and values.
We support people of all faiths and those with no formal faith, always without agenda or pressure.
