DBTH has benefitted from thousands of well-wishers spurring their colleagues on over the last year and they have heard from lots of local residents who are new friends and supporters of their local hospital.
The Trust, which runs Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital and Mexborough Montagu Hospital, is a Foundation Trust which means they have a membership of local people who help to shape hospital services to best meet the needs of their community.
The Trust is hoping that some of its new friends will sign up to be members of the Trust and help shape how their services develop after the pandemic.
Suzy Brain England OBE, Chair of the Board at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, said: “Whilst the last year has been challenging for the NHS, here in Doncaster and Bassetlaw we have been uplifted by an inspiring community spirit and an apparent thirst from residents to help their local hospitals. If you want to continue to be a friend to the Trust and help to shape the way our hospitals develop services in the future, you can sign up to be a member. It’s free, it takes five minutes and anyone over the age of 16 can do it.”
As a member, you will have a say in the future of your local hospitals, receive membership information and a welcome pack, including information on how to use NHS Discounts, have the opportunity to attend member events and fill in member surveys and have a vote in the hospital governor elections. The next lot of elections will start in July.
Once you’re signed up as a member, you can be involved as little or as much as you would like. Suzy said: “Becoming a member shows your commitment to your local hospitals but we want to make membership work for you as well. It’s all about using local knowledge and listening to local views so we can make the most of the freedom that NHS Foundation Trust status gives.
