I am writing to you today with the sad news that our Chief Operating Officer (COO), Rebecca Joyce, is leaving her role.
Since joining DBTH in 2019, Rebecca has been instrumental in supporting the Trust through some of our most difficult challenges and has demonstrated what a talented and committed NHS leader she is, and I have no doubt that when the time is right she will do so again in the future.
Whilst it is a sad loss to DBTH, we whole heartedly support Rebecca’s decision and I am sure you will join me in sending our best wishes to her and her family.
Rebecca has asked me to pass on the following message:
“It is with great sadness that I am stepping back from my role. It has been an absolute privilege to be the Chief Operating Officer at DBTH over the past two and a half years. It has been difficult time for everyone throughout the pandemic and I have deep admiration for the teamwork, resilience, sacrifice and compassion that all members of Team DBTH have shown.
“I am really sorry that I can’t be part of the recovery but I know Team DBTH will rise to the challenge. It has been a privilege working with you all and I will continue to follow developments at the Trust as a firm support and a member of the community.
“This Trust, and the NHS more widely, is such a hugely special and treasured institution that really does serve us all at times of our greatest vulnerability. You all do hugely important and profound work and I want to wish everyone the very best and thank you deeply for your support, good humour, care and commitment.”
Interim plans will be put in place to support the operational team in the short-term as we look to promptly recruit to the post to support our recovery journey
