Children’s ward receives special delivery from Amazon team

Children spending time in Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s Children’s Ward received a special delivery from the Amazon team in Doncaster Balby Carr Bank when they donated TVs, DVD players and Fire Tablets in time for Christmas.

Associates at Amazon in Doncaster nominated the hospital for support with the aim of offering pleasant distractions from what can be a difficult experience for the children.

The products, worth more than £2,400, were donated to Doncaster Royal Infirmary as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Richard Thompson, Site Leader at Amazon in Balby Carr Bank, said: “Doncaster Royal Infirmary has a special place in the hearts of many of our team and we’re pleased to support the staff and patients with this donation during the festive season. We hope the nurses, families and children have a lovely Christmas.”

Iqbal Lall, Play Leader at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals, said: “We loved welcoming the Amazon team to the children’s ward and I’d like to say a big thank you to them on behalf of our patients, staff and visitors for this kind donation. Their generosity is what we rely on to provide the extras to the clinical care we provide here. Donations such as this one really help us to improve the hospital experience for our patients, particularly our young ones at this time of year.”
