Main duties of the job

Are you interested in pursuing a career in the NHS?  We have a fantastic opportunity for a Customer Practitioner, Level 2 Apprentice to work within the Information Services Team.

One of our previous apprentices successfully obtained a permanent clerical post within the department following completion of her apprenticeship and has since gained promotion in a role within the Education Team at the Trust.  There have also been other Apprentices in the Trust who have acquired permanent roles.

This is a customer focused, business administrative role that requires an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who can remain calm in a busy environment.

The Information Services Team provides a vital role in supporting the Trust’s objectives of providing the highest quality clinical care.  The need for accurate, timely and high-quality information along with detailed levels of business intelligence is critical for the Trust.

Working for our organisation

The Head of Applied Information is responsible for the following teams within Information Services, Clinical Coding, Data Quality Assurance, Information Development, Information Projects and Change, Analytics.

The post will be primarily based at Doncaster Royal Infirmary but will require operational working across all Trust sites.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

In the Clinical Coding Department, you will work within the existing clerical team, assisting the coders by locating medical records using the Hospital Tracker System.  You will also be required to take requests for medical records and undertake clerical duties.

In the Information Department you will assist the Support Officer with a range of general administrative duties.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is flexible and methodical in their approach to work, able to work within a team and independently, possessing excellent keyboard skills and experience in using computer software packages.  You will be comfortable working to prescribed deadlines and to producing work of a high standard. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. You will have a friendly and helpful manner and be committed to undertake and complete learning activities which form part of the role and apprenticeship qualifications.
