An exciting position has become available in the Surgery & Cancer Division at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Trust; a second Service Manager for the Head and Neck Department. The role is 35.25 hours per week, permanent.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, ambitious and talented individual to this post that will initially be aligned to the Ophthalmology Department for a 12 month period. Main duties of the job

Your role will be to operationally manage Ophthalmology, providing clear leadership, ensuring delivery against our performance goals and supporting the recovery of services following impact of Covid-19. You will work closely with the Head and Neck Business Manager, Team Leads, Clinicians and other staff across the Trust. You will provide leadership and expert advice to your teams to help deliver high standards of care and a quality, patient-centred service with an ethos around continuous improvement.

Job description

The post holder will need to have significant experience of operational service delivery. This is a challenging operational role, but represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate.

The role represents an ideal opportunity for the post holder to further their skills and progress their career into a senior management role. You will need a clear and thorough understanding of NHS challenges and opportunities. Additionally, you will be confident in delivering operational initiatives to achieve patient access targets (RTT), and competent in complex data handling and IT skills.

You will benefit from dedicated support from the directorate senior management team in delivering your objectives. Selection for this post will be through interview and presentation. In order to be short-listed, candidates are expected to provide succinct and clearly referenced evidence which demonstrates that they fulfil the essential requirements set out in the person specification.

Essential

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of 18 week RTT Management

Desirable

  • Proven track record of successful and sustained management in an NHS Foundation trust or similar organisation

Experience

  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of performance Management

Desirable

  • Up-to-date knowledge of NHS system reform policy and other key policy drivers

Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification and / or equivalent experience
