Family return to Bassetlaw Hospital to say thank you to staff

A ward at Bassetlaw Hospital have received a donation of DAB digital radios from a family who wanted to say ‘thank you’ for the exceptional care a family member received.

Jacqueline Jackson, from Woodsetts, was a patient on Ward C1 and sadly passed away in April this year.  The family wanted to thank the team who looked after Jacqueline and returned to the ward with seven DAB Digital radios which will benefit patients on the ward and keep them entertained.

Carolyn Fox, Jacqueline’s daughter, said: “As a family we wanted to do something to thank the team for the fantastic care and support mum received and for making a terrible experience more bearable. Due to Covid-19 restrictions flowers weren’t allowed at mum’s funeral so we asked for donations for the ward and with the money purchased radios for patients, particularly those who may not be receiving visitors at this moment in time.”

Michelle Cookson, C1 Ward Manager, said: “I would like to say a big thank you to the Jackson family.  This very generous donation will benefit our patients who may not have any of their own devices to keep them entertained and stimulated.  Jacqueline had been a patient on our ward on a number occasions over the last few years and we got to know the family really well and as a team we always try our very best to support the families of our patients as much as possible.”
