Local hospital celebrates outstanding colleague’s achievements in digital transformation

Georgina Redfearne, Digital Practitioner, was named the Trust’s Star of the Month after multiple nominations from colleagues for her contributions in implementing the Digital Case Note system for Ward 16 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary.

As a key member of the DBTH Clinical Digital Team, Georgina has been part of the group leading pivotal support of the pilot project at Doncaster Royal Infirmary where the Trust has successfully embedded digital working practises across its documentation for the Stroke Service. During the project Georgina demonstrated exceptional empathy and expertise in supporting the ward colleagues during the transition from paper to electronic notes. She proactively addressed their concerns, providing practical solutions to mitigate the anxiety associated with such a significant change.

Nominating colleagues said: “Georgina’s positive and can-do attitude significantly alleviated the worries of the staff, earning their confidence and trust in her problem-solving abilities.”

An outstanding example of Georgina’s commitment to going above and beyond involved her support for a Stroke Therapy Team member who was particularly anxious about the transition to electronic notes. Recognising the specific needs and worries of this colleague, Georgina sourced voice-to-text software and provided training to ensure they had an accessible method to record and access information on the new electronic devices.

Additionally, she collaborated with their manager to procure a headset, ensuring a smooth transition for the staff member in which they felt confident to move forward with the digital transformation of the service. The impact of Georgina’s efforts has not only instilled colleague’s confidence in this change but also helped to achieve seamless documentation record.

Richard Parker OBE, Chief Executive at DBTH, said: “Congratulations to Georgina on this wonderful achievement. Team DBTH is proud to have such a fantastic colleague as part of our Clinical Digital Team driving innovation and excellence in patient care through her exemplary work. Her support for colleagues throughout this project is fantastic to see and stands testament to our commitment to providing exceptional healthcare services.”
