Marking one year with COVID-19

Today, 21 March 2021 marks exactly one year to the day since we admitted our first COVID-19 positive patient to our hospitals.

Our Chief Executive, and former Registered Nurse, Richard Parker OBE shares his thoughts, thanks and reflections upon an incredibly challenging 12 months, thanking colleagues as well as our communities for their support throughout.

The short film will premiere at 7pm this evening.

Donate a heart and help us build a rainbow

Together with Team Doncaster partners, we want to create a loving and lasting monument to those who have gone above and beyond throughout the pandemic, as well as those sadly no longer with us. You can help by donating and dedicating a heart which will make up this special rainbow memorial in our town.

You can get involved by donating a coloured heart (click the link below) which will be fixed to the monument making up the colours of the rainbow. Each will also bear a brief hand-crafted dedication to friends, family and loved ones, either in recognition of their efforts throughout the 12-month period (all essential workers, not just the NHS), or instead in loving memory of someone sadly taken before their time.

Created by the British Ironworks Centre, the memorial will have space for 5,000 hearts. Each ‘Heart’ can be created with a donation of £20, with all proceeds from the project to be directly reinvested in patient care and treatment at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals.
