Called ‘Doncaster and Bassetlaw Maternity Services’, the new page is overseen by midwives at the Trust and features a wealth of information, such as smoking cessation, parenting advice and other related developments within the hospitals, particularly given the currently challenges posed by Covid-19. Patients can also contact the team using the page’s messaging function for any non-urgent general enquiries, which colleagues try to answer within 24 hours on weekdays.
The brainchild of Jacqueline Yeates, Midwife and Maternity IT Clinical Lead, the page has been live a few days and is on its way to 1,000 ‘likes’ already. Speaking about the page, Jacqui said: “I’m really pleased to be able to offer this service to our parents-to-be in Doncaster, Worksop and Retford.
“Our Facebook page will be updated regularly, and we will also try our best to answer enquiries. While Covid-19 has made us think about alternative ways of working, we have been exploring the creation of a social media service for some time, and, while we are all spending more time indoors, this has presented a good opportunity for us to launch this page and help support our mums-to-be and their babies.”
