If you have been referred to have orthopaedic surgery, you may have your surgery at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital or at the Montagu Elective Orthopaedic Centre. Your appointment letter will inform you where you will have your surgery and provide you with further information.

Joint School

The Trust has provided a comprehensive guide to preparing yourself for orthopaedic surgery, called the Joint School. You can access this guide through a series of videos, each covering a specific topic involved in prehabilitation.

The Joint School videos will be shared here shortly.

Deciding on joint replacement surgery

If you are unsure whether joint replacement surgery is right for you, please look at the following decision support tools.
Decision support tools, also called patient decision aids, support shared decision making by making treatment, care and support options explicit.
They provide evidence-based information about the associated benefits or harms and help you to consider what matters most to you in relation to the possible outcomes, including doing nothing.
You can find more information at NHS England » Decision support tools.

Returning your mobility aids

Once you no longer need your crutch, walking stick or frame, you can take it to the recycling points at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Montagu Hospital.
At DRI, call into the Outpatients 1&2 entrance or Fracture clinic entrance where you will find the large purple mobility aid recycling bins.
At Montagu Hospital, you can find the recycling bin within the Fred and Ann Green Physiotherapy entrance.
Within the Doncaster area, you can arrange for a collection by calling 0300 100 0243 or email: enquiries@doncaster.nrs-uk.net
