Carers Rights Day is about raising awareness of the rights the UK’s 5.7 million unpaid carers are entitled to, and to help them get the support they need.
As a Trust, we know that carers provide crucial support to vulnerable patients as they progress through their path to recovery.
Please speak with one of the colleagues involved in your loved ones care to see how we can help to support you. As a minimum, we offer the following support:
- Extended visiting times
- Concessionary car parking, and in some cases, parking is free.
- A meal token to use within our cafes, see here for more information on our catering outlets.
- If you are a carer and the person you care for is being discharged, our colleagues will consult with you, where possible.
DBTH Visitor’s Charter
The Trust is committed to helping our community of carers. This is underpinned by the DBTH Visitor’s Charter, which sets out a guideline of expectations for all and creates an inclusive environment where the contributions of carers are acknowledged and supported.
Carers play an integral role in a patient’s recovery and wellbeing, and the Charter aligns with the Trust’s focus on personalised care. It encourages collaboration between carers and healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive holistic care tailored to their individual needs. Find out more about our Visitor’s Charter here
Please let our colleagues know about any specific needs that the patient has and if you would like to assist with providing any care (with the patient’s permission). Ask colleagues about the “carer’s agreement”.
