Doncaster’s Tesco Distribution Centre donates £365 to buy toys for local hospitals

Staff at Doncaster’s Tesco Distribution Centre have donated £365 to Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals’ Charity, which will be used to purchase gifts for young patients staying on the Children’s Ward over the Christmas period.

Spending the festive period in hospital can be a tough experience for some children, however donations like this from Tesco, with some great work by the staff at DBTH, ensure that festive cheer is present on the ward.

Caroline Roberts, Service Warehouse Team Manager at Doncaster’s Tesco Distribution Centre, Olivia Sherburn, who is the People Safety Manager at the Distribution centre, on behalf of the whole Tesco team said:  “Tesco colleagues at Doncaster Distribution Centre wanted to share a little festive magic this Christmas by donating to the local community. We chose to help local children, as Christmas is a magical time of year for them!

“It is the time of the year for giving, and that’s just what we did by donating £365 for the kids at Doncaster Royal Infirmary’s children’s ward. We hope that they all enjoy their Christmas gifts, and that they bring a little smile to their faces. What better way to share a little Christmas magic. Merry Christmas from the Tesco Doncaster DC team.”

Suzy Brain England OBE, Chair of the Board, said: “On behalf of the Trust, I want to share my thanks with the Tesco team. This is a very kind gesture and will hopefully brighten up the Christmas period for some of our younger patients.”
