Essential upgrades to local hospitals telephony system

Throughout March and parts of April, colleagues at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) will be carrying out an essential upgrade to the Trust’s telephony system.

The upgrade will be rolled out in stages at the Trust’s three main sites in Doncaster, Bassetlaw and Mexborough, commencing on Monday 1 March.

This earlier phase will primarily affect phones that are for internal use, so any external callers will still be able to reach the Trust on the main hospital numbers: 01302 366666 (Doncaster Royal Infirmary), 01909 0500990 (Bassetlaw Hospital) and 01709 585171 (Montagu Hospital).

However, health professionals at DBTH are asking patience if anyone experiences any momentary delays on the following dates:

  • For Doncaster Royal Infirmary: 1st March, 4th March, 24th March.
  • For Bassetlaw: 4th March, 11th March, 12th March
  • For Montagu: 11th, 17th, 24th March
  • For Park Hill: 16th March

Please be assured that any potential disruptions on these days should only last for a couple of minutes and should only be minimal.

Following these works, on both Tuesday 16 March (between 9pm -12am midnight) and Saturday 10 April  (between 4:30pm– 10:30pm), there will be more substantial works. Any potential for disruption should only last for a couple of minutes, and is planned to occur at a less busy time, in order to miminise any disruption to patients, visitors and anyone calling the Trust.

Ken Anderson, Acting Chief Information Officer, said: “This work has been planned for some time and will improve telephony within our hospitals. While we expect any disruption to be kept to an absolute minimum, we want to make our communities aware ahead of time and we thank you for your patience in this matter.”

Specifics (including timeframes and what you might encounter if you do try to call the hospital) will be made available at dbth.nhs.uk
