Covid-19 update (25 February)

Our weekly Covid-19 update at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH).

At the time of writing, we are caring for 76 COVID-19 positive patients. To break this down, 51 are currently receiving care at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, 19 at Bassetlaw Hospital and six a Montagu Hospital.

Of these patients 10 require critical care, while the overall age range is between 41 and 97. We wish them all the very best and colleagues continue to work around the clock for those within our care.

These numbers constitute a notable reduction from last week, which is a fantastic achievement, however, we must stress that now is not the time to become complacent. The past 12 months have shown us how things can quickly change, and how swiftly COVID-19 can take a hold in communities when our guard is dropped.

Like you, we are eagerly looking forward to the time when restrictions can be lifted, and we urge everyone in Doncaster and Bassetlaw to continue what you are doing – that is observing hands, face and space, adhering to the rules and doing everything possible to minimise the spread of COVID-19.

We don’t have too much distance left to run, so let’s not fall at the final hurdle. Keep up the good work, stay safe and sensible, and let’s ensure we pass the four tests required by the Government to ensure we can enjoy a COVID-free summer in 2021.
