Borrow, renew or reserve a book

All DBTH & RDASH staff and students are welcome to join the library service and borrow, renew and reserve books.

Books can be sent to any site for collection.  If you are unable to get to one of our libraries to borrow up a book please contact the library team to explore options for getting items to you.

How do I find a book?

You can search our new library catalogue (YorCat) which will search Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals’ book and e-book collection as well as multiple NHS libraries across Yorkshire and the Humber.  You can request books to be sent to you local library at DRI or Bassetlaw.

How many books can I borrow and for how long?

You can borrow 10 items.  Books are normally loaned for 4 weeks.  Books not required by other users are automatically renewed 5 times, after which you will be expected to return your books..

How do I reserve a book?

All members of the library will need to register for a username and password in order to log into YorCat.  This will allow you to see the books you have out on loan and reserve new books.  Go to Log in to your account and if you haven’t got a password choose forgot your password.  Enter your library membership number in the log in field (call 01302 642895 or email dbth.dri.library@nhs.net if you need help with this).  Enter the email address you used to register with the library.  You will be sent an email that will allow you to set a password. After setting your password you will be able to log in to the library catalogue using your library membership number and password and reserve books.

What if you don’t have the book I need?

If we do not have the book you need, we can get it for you free of charge through our inter-library loans service.  In partnership with other local and national libraries, a search will be carried out by us to see if the book is held by another library and it will be borrowed from that library on your behalf.  Please contact us to request an inter-library loan book.

Can I recommend a book for purchase?

We welcome recommendations please get in touch with us with the details of the book or fill in the book recommendation form and we will consider whether we can add it to our collection.
