Cardiology

The Cardiology department provides a range of services for the management of all aspects of adult Coronary heart disease.

The Cardiology department provides a range of services for the management of all aspects of adult Coronary heart disease including, acute coronary syndrome , acute myocardial infarction, heart valve disorders, diseases of the heart muscle and heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. Our services benefit from being part of the North Trent PPCI programme for the provision of acute angioplasty and stent, and for surgical revascularisation.

The services at Doncaster and Bassetlaw are supported by experienced specialist Nursing staff appointed both in the hospital and community setting trained in the management in Heart failure, arrhythmia management, chest pain assessment, and cardiac rehabilitation.

Services provided are thrombolysis, angiography, permanent pacemaker insertion, transoesophageal echocardiogram, cardioversion and insertion of pericardial drains.
Out patient Cardiology Clinics are operational for Rapid Access chest pain, angioplasty assessment, angina clinics , general cardiology and heart failure.

Services are provided in Outpatients at Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Montagu Hospital, Bassetlaw Hospital and Retford Hospital. Inpatient and treatment facilities are provided at Doncaster Royal Infirmary and Bassetlaw Hospital.

There are dedicated Coronary Care Facilities at DRI and specialist cardiology beds on Ward 24. Bassetlaw Hospital has its own Coronary Care Unit.
