How we are run

At Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH), everything we do is guided by our vision of being Healthier together – Delivering exceptional care for all.

This is supported by our values – We Care – and a clear strategy that focuses on delivering outstanding care, supporting our people, working in partnership, and making best use of public resources. These principles shape how we operate and make decisions across our hospitals and services.

The Trust is run as an NHS Foundation Trust, governed by a Board of Directors and supported by a Council of Governors made up of patients, colleagues, and local representatives. This structure ensures that our leadership is accountable and that we remain focused on providing high-quality, person-centred care for the communities we serve.

Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Trust and, with input from the Council of Governors, helps shape its future direction.

The Board monitors performance against national, regional and local objectives, and ensures the highest standards of care and service are maintained across our hospitals.

While the Trust is led by the Board of Directors, they remain accountable to the Council of Governors.

Council of Governors

The Council of Governors includes 20 members elected by Trust members, alongside six staff governors, two public governors, and 11 governors nominated by our partner organisations.

Public and staff governors are elected by their respective constituencies, while partner governors are appointed by their organisations.
