The gynaecology team  are looking for an experienced nurse with a passion for Women’s Health to take on the role of department manager within the Gynaecology Outpatient Department.

We are a dynamic and rapidly developing unit treating a wide treating a wide range of Gynaecological conditions, working closely with the multi-disciplinary team. As a member of the senior team, using advanced skills and knowledge, you will demonstrate clinical leadership within the clinical environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in staff development, contributing to practice development and clinical skills training for registered and non-registered staff. You will work alongside directorate and divisional education teams to ensure staff are supported across Gynaecology, including outpatient, day case and community settings, and will be a key point of contact for new starters, students and other learners on the Gynaecology Ward.

You will receive an annual appraisal and personal development plan which will enable you to have structure within your role and help you to develop both personally and professionally.

Main duties of the job

The post holder must be highly visible and to have an accessible approach for patients, their relatives/carers and staff. To facilitate this role will be mainly Monday to Friday within core hours (8am-6pm). This may vary, and be subject to review, depending on the speciality service needs.

This is a senior Nursing/Midwifery role within the organisation and there is an expectation that the post holder will fully participate in the clinical and professional leadership within the organisation.

Be responsible for creating a dynamic learning environment for all staff, overseeing the provision of education, research and practice development within their area and Division.

To act as a clinical lead in delivery of safe and high quality patient care within the ward/department environment. To support delivery of Trust objectives. To act as a point of reference with regard to clinical/managerial issues within the ward environment and Division as required. To manage the Department on a day-to-day basis including:
1 Sickness/absence management
2 Incident / Complaint investigation outcomes are shared widely and actions completed evidenced and monitored
3 Work in conjunction with Clinical Educator to ensure Training & Development of all staff match the needs of service
4 Ensure that Patients receive safe and high quality care from all nursing staff within the ward team
5 Work collaboratively in meeting national / local specific outcome measures
