Doncaster’s big COVID vaccination weekend!

Calling all residents of Doncaster – come and get your Covid vaccinations this weekend as drop-in centres open up across the borough.

Everyone aged 18 and over is invited to get their first or second jabs in this Doncaster-wide event as part of the continuing national drive to get all eligible adults vaccinated against the virus by next month.

Chair of the Doncaster NHS Clinical Commissioning Group Dr David Crichton said: “This is a great opportunity to ‘grab the jab’ at a variety of venues all opening up this Saturday and Sunday to help protect everyone against coronavirus.

“Our programme of vaccinations has been phenomenal so far, but we still have a way to go to make sure everyone has the chance to get their first or second jab where eligible. To date more than 200,000 have received their first dose in Doncaster, representing over 78% of the adult population, and 61% have received both doses.

“Our friendly and expert teams of vaccinators and volunteers will be on hand to make sure everyone is COVID safe and has a good experience at our drop-in centres, so please come forward and let’s do it for Doncaster!”

The details are:

  • Dearne Valley Leisure Centre, Saturday 26 June between 1pm and 4pm
  • The Keepmoat Stadium, Saturday 26 June from 9am to 5pm
  • Rutland House on Saturday 26 June AND Sunday 27 June from 8am to 8pm
  • Adwick Leisure Centre, Saturday 26 June between 10am and 6pm AND Sunday 27 between 9am and 5pm
  • Thorne Leisure Centre, Saturday 26 June from 2pm until 4:30pm

All adults over the age of 18 are invited to these drop-in sessions where Astra Zeneca and Pfizer will be available, supplies allowing. Vaccinations can be given to younger people (16+) if they are clinically vulnerable, are living with an adult with severe immunosuppression or are carers (paid or unpaid). We also welcome care home workers and residents and Doncaster’s health and social care workers.

You must be a Doncaster resident but don’t have to be registered with a Doncaster GP.

Students returning home to Doncaster from university are welcome to get their jabs here, even if they’re registered with a GP in their place of study.

Please come prepared in case there’s a queue at your chosen venue with refreshments if the weather is hot. Please also be aware there may be limited parking at some venues, so you may want to attend on foot or use public transport.
