What do we do?
The mainstream schools team sees children and young people who are registered in Year 1 and above who have language difficulties or other complex communication needs.
We work with school staff to deliver therapy plans so we can only see children who have allocated 1-1 support to work on agreed therapy goals.
Where do we work?
We work mostly in mainstream schools across Doncaster and Bassetlaw but sometimes see children at home or in a community clinic as well.
What to expect?
All our first appointments are completed by phone with the child or young person’s parent/carer. The child/young person does not need to be present for these. We will discuss the child/young person’s needs and their parent/carer’s concerns and views and agree what to do next.
Next, we usually arrange a visit to the child/young person’s school so that we can meet them along with school staff who know them well. We will normally carry out some initial assessment at this visit and agree therapy goals with school staff.
