What do we do?

South Yorkshire Talking Together Team are a Universal and Targeted service for children under the age of 5 in Doncaster

Universal support includes free events within Family Hubs to promote the importance of speech, language and communication, attendance at family fun days and beginner training for any professional who works with a child aged 0-5. We also share lots of hints, tips and advice on our Facebook page.

Targeted support includes intervention for children aged 2-4 who require a bit more support with their language or communication skills. These sessions either take place in the local Family Hub or within the family’s home. We also offer a more in depth training package for professionals who will be working on speech, language or communication interventions.

Family Hubs around Doncaster city and in family’s homes.

What to expect?

At your first appointment, two members of our team will come to your house to fill out the initial paperwork and play with your child. Based on what is observed during this session, and the information you share, a therapy plan will be decided and initial advice will be given.

Other information

Our service is all about early identification and intervention – if you are concerned about your child’s (aged 0-5) speech, language or communication but are not sure which service they might benefit most from, you can attend one of our advice sessions that run from the Family Hubs without a referral. This session will give you the opportunity to share your concerns, be given advice and signposted to the most appropriate service.
