Leisure Library

The Leisure Library offers recreational reading and health & wellbeing books delivered in partnership with Doncaster City Council Libraries.

Recreational reading in print, audio and digital formats are available for all Trust colleagues, learners and patients.  The Leisure Library provides an ideal space to reflect and relax.  IT facilities and PODs are available for colleagues and learners.

 


Joining the Leisure Library

To join the Leisure Library a member of the library team will register you or provide you with a registration form.  You’ll need to show your Trust ID or student ID card.


Once registered, you’ll have access to all public libraries in Doncaster.

If you’re already a member of Doncaster Libraries, you can use your card here.

Is there an App?

Yes! – there’s an app you can use to keep track of the books you’ve loaned from Doncaster City Council libraries.

Enquiry Service

Borrowing, renewing and reserving Leisure Library Books

Leisure Library members may borrow up to 20 books and eight audio items for three weeks, plus six DVDs for one week.

Search for items using the Doncaster Libraries catalogue

Items not in stock at DRI may be requested from other Doncaster libraries.  Items can be returned to any public library in Doncaster.

You can renew items in person, by phone or email, or via the Doncaster Libraries website – as long as they aren’t required by another reader.
Quick Reads

Would you like something short, exciting and quick to read? Why not try a Quick Read?
Quick Reads aim to show that reading for pleasure is for everyone, whatever your interest and ability.

A selection of Quick Reads, many of which are written by well-known authors, is now available from the Leisure Library – ask the library team for details.

Digital Library

Doncaster Libraries provide free 24 hour access to eBooks, eAudio and music downloads.

24 Hour library

Doncaster library members can enjoy the benefits of free access to several online information sources, including Oxford Reference, Public Information Online and Life in Great Britain (Citizenship information) from home even when the libraries are closed.

To access all the resources in the 24 hour library collection, you will need your Doncaster library card number and PIN.

Library Space: computers, study space, PODs and relaxation

The Leisure Library offers a comfortable environment for study, group work or e-learning, plus relaxed seating areas where you can just spend some quiet time.  PCs are available for DBTH colleagues and learners.  PODs are great for teams calls.

Unfortunately we are not able to provide PC access to patients.

Computer Guides

An extensive collection of learning guides about using modern technology created by Digital Unite, the digital learning experts. The easy-to-use guides are ideal for improving your own confidence and skills or for supporting other learners.

Ward Trolley Service for Patients 

For patients unable to visit the DRI Leisure library in person, a ward trolley service of leisure reading is provided on a regular basis throughout the week.

Audio books are also available for loan – please ask the Library Volunteers for further information when they visit your ward.

Health & Well-being Collection, Books on Prescription and Mood-boosting Books

We offer access to the ‘Reading Well’ Books on Prescription, Mood-boosting and ‘Shelf Help’ book Collections plus our own Health and Well-being Collection.

We can also signpost you or your patients to online sources of reliable patient information for both adults and children for a very wide variety of conditions – please ask a member of the library team or see the online guide to health information websites

And Finally – Book Club

Would you like to discover some new authors? Read books you’d never normally go near?
Break out of your normal reading habits with our Book Club.

Once you’ve read the book, it would be great to hear what you thought of it – you can either come along to the book club at DRI, join on teams or submit a review on the teams channel.

The group is co-ordinated by Rebecca Lunn and Annette Winfrow – if you’re interested in joining the group, contact Rebecca or Annette.
