How to get in?

Knowledge & Library Hub

  1. Log in via yellow banner at the top of the page
  2. Go to in-depth searching at the bottom at the page
  3. Select the database you want to search

Alternatively via OpenAthens

  1. Log into your OpenAthens account and from the Resources page, click on “OVID Online“.
  2. Choose a database to search – you can choose more than one, but you have less control over the search, so we prefer one at a time. Click OK.
  3. Now you’ll see the OVID search interface. Remember to click ‘My Account‘ at the top of the page (you’ll probably need to create an account the first time) – this will let you save your results and searches.

Remember, a tools like PICO (clinical questions), ECLIPS (service design) or SPICE (qualitative questions) might help you organise your search.

OVID have produced videos to help you search:

OVID basic search (3mins)

OVID basic searching – more detail (52mins)

OVID Advanced searching – all topics (1hr)

Advanced search – Keyword mapping and Boolean searching (4mins)

Advanced search – Subject Headings (4mins)

Advanced search – Limits (3mins)
